1) Running Qik in the background
2) Can capture video when there's no network and automatically stream it out once network becomes available
3) How to achieve 640x480 resolution video
4) The way Title / Description works
ahhh trying to point out that the things you do are the same things flixwagon does, well they send me an email telling me what the new features are. why don't you one up them and just post a video similar to what google does when they introduce a new feature.
amend the "help" section in the qik client and also on the qik site accordingly.
send regular what's new and tips & tricks email messages to all registered users.
correct/update/improve the outdated " what's new" info that appears each time when the client gets updated on the phone.
in general, improve the site design and functionality (e.g. more ajax), but keep it as simple as possible. add a personal favorites, add fields for a small user profile/description, add more "explore" and video statistics features (e.g. most watched per day/week/month, etc). make sure that when the user sees a live video on the front page and clicks on it, that he directly comes to a page where he can chat with the broadcasting user (this is not the case now. needs 2 or 3 clicks). etc etc
@broy: As to letting people know about features -- putting it on the website will not help. Most average users won't go looking for that stuff unless you force it upon them. You need something like a "tip of the day" pop-up that is displayed when the client is launched. Some users will turn this off, of course, but that alone will force them to go look at the settings menu... :)
@broy: zoom (or multiplyer) is something nice, but wide angle would be just... yummy!
I have one question and a suggestion.
Where are my favs? I just faved a Qik to find out... but I can't find it back! :-?
When a user (let's say... me ;) is logged-in the line "Ready to stream live videos from your phone? Sign Up!" still shows up on the main page... quite confusing, imho.
@sachaqs: good quesion - i didn't even see that there's already a "favorite" feature on the qik site (and yes, it doesn't work). neither did i see the "flag issue" link recently when porn was streamed on qik. i think "light green on green" is probably not the best way to do visualize links.. ;)
@broy: i really think the qik site needs some serious improvements in the department of web-design, functionality and user interface ergonomics. many new and interesting startups seem to lack in this area at first. seesmic is another good example for serious shortcomings in the realm of usability and essential features. user are complaining nonstop there about that, and are even building their own scripts and workarounds for better searching of filtering of content.. (new site design is now coming, however :)

So far have been announcing the features through our blogs. Will add video to that as well

agree that most folks won't read instruction manuals, etc. Would surfacing the new updates someplace obvious on our website apart from the blog help?

@afr good suggestions.

@broy: If you do a BB Qik client, I'd be up for testing it. (Have an 8320 so can do WiFi with it.)

I didn't find out the zoom worked until very recently. I've been on qik for months.

@sheryl4321 good point. apart from tripod - recently found the following telescopic lens for N95: http://cgi.ebay.com/Mobile-Camera-Telescope-Free-tripod-For-Nokia-N95-8GB_W0QQitemZ160228194232QQihZ006QQcategoryZ20336QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem. It has it kinks but as you can imagine the zoom capabilities goes up significantly

One idea might be to pop up a different tip on the phone's screen each time you start streaming. At the moment, it's always the same message.
